It has been such an exciting start to the year for me, your new music teacher. I have had a great time meeting you all and can't wait to see what you can all do in music.
For the first few weeks we have been learning songs for our school assemblies. These songs have been...
Ma te Mahi Ka Ora
Put a Little Love in Your Heart
Six Months in a Leaky Boat
and The Seasons Song.
For each year level I have been working on different songs and different themes.
Year 0, 1 and 2 have been learning about keeping the beat and moving to the beat. Sometimes it can be hard to stay in time but we are working hard at it.
Year 3 and 4 have been looking at a Rockin' Rhythm. Trying to improvise a rhythm using shakers and body percussion.
Year 5 and 6 have been meeting together for singing practise. The aim is that everyone stands up with pride and sings to the best of their ability. Listening to others and trying to stay in tune.
I'm really looking forward to the class assemblies that will be starting soon with Room 21, 22 and 23. We are working on a special song for that assembly called We Are One.
The other great things that are happening this year is the Junior Choir and Senior Choir. Not to mention the Guitar Club and Ukulele Club.
I look forward to sharing all the things we have been doing this year on this blog. Keep checking in to follow links to music and other great music things!!
