AUCKLAND BOYS’ CHOIR
The Auckland Boys’ Choir has started its 2017 program and will be performing in various venues during the coming year.
The choir consists of up to 40 boys aged between 8 and 12 years who come from all parts of Auckland and sing a variety of music suited to their treble voices. Many of the boys move on to secondary school groups as their voices mature including the Auckland Youth Choir, The NZ Secondary Schools’ Choir and the NZ Youth Choir.
Rehearsals are on Mondays at 4.30pm at Saint George’s Church Hall, Ranfurly Road, Epsom.
The Choir has wide community support including as patrons, David Hamilton of Auckland and Simon O’Neill, who spends most of his time singing in the world’s great opera houses overseas. Support also comes from the Lions Club of Remuera, St George’s Church in Epsom and St Luke’s Church in Remuera which provide concert venues.
During the year the choir can be heard singing in the Auckland Town Hall, The Auckland Cathedral in Parnell , and other venues as well as visiting Auckland schools that are interested in hearing them.
Auditions are at present taking place and appointments can be made by interested families phoning 577 5722.
Further information regarding the choir can be obtained by viewing its web site www.aucklandboyschoir.org.nz
